Minn. Dems Form 'Truth Team' For Obama
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Democrats say they're on the lookout for distortions of President Barack Obama's record and ready to act as a 'truth team' on his behalf.
Some leading Democrats joined a nationwide rollout Monday of Obama campaign truth squads in states that could be competitive come November. Minnesota Democratic Party chairman Ken Martin says it's not an indication of worry in his state but local Democrats plan to, in his words, "fight like we're 20 points behind."
The focus of the 2012 race has been largely on Republicans vying to be Obama's challenger. They frequently invoke the incumbent's name in blasting his record.
Members of the local truth teams say they'll be on guard for falsehoods and use face-to-face contacts, social media and Web sites to present Obama's side.
