Minn. College Names Art Building For Joan Mondale
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The late Joan Mondale will have her name on a newly completed arts building on the Macalester College campus in St. Paul.
Mondale was an alumna of the school and a nationally renowned arts advocate. The wife of former Vice President Walter Mondale died earlier this year.
Trustees at the liberal arts college have signed off on naming the building the "Joan Adams Mondale Hall of Studio Art." Walter Mondale said in a statement Monday that the family was thrilled by the decision that he says is a fitting tribute. While her husband served in high office, Joan Mondale promoted cultural causes across the world.
Joan Mondale graduated from Macalester in 1952 and later served on the college's board.
