Minn. Body Extends Flood Emergency For 46 Counties
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota's constitutional officers have extended an emergency measure for 46 counties and two tribes threatened by flooding.
The executive council vote Friday extends an emergency declaration Gov. Mark Dayton had issued a day earlier. It keeps the order in force for 30 days instead of five days.
The first-term governor was visiting Stillwater Friday to view flooding on the St. Croix River.
He plans to travel to northwestern Minnesota Saturday to visit Moorhead, which sits across from Fargo, N.D., on the rising Red River.
Dayton told reporters at the Capitol that he is closely watching weather forecasts and projections for river crests. He says he is encouraged so far but that flooding is unpredictable.
