Minn. Authorities ID Teen Who Drowned In Pool
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) -- Hennepin County authorities have released the name of the girl who died after being pulled unconscious from a Brooklyn Center swimming pool last week.
The medical examiner's office says the girl was 14-year-old Helen Nyabochwa of Brooklyn Center. The office on Sunday ruled her death an accidental drowning.
Police were called to an apartment complex Friday about 6:30 p.m. on a report of a child found unresponsive in a swimming pool.
Officers arrived to find that a bystander had pulled Nyabochwa from the pool and begun CPR. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 7:10 p.m.
Authorities say she'd been swimming with her two younger sisters in an outdoor pool when she was discovered unconscious in the deep end.
