Minn. Agency To Release Details On State Economy
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota state officials are getting ready to announce how the state's economy performed in June.
The Department of Employment and Economic Development is releasing the June unemployment rate Thursday morning. June's numbers will follow an April and May in which the jobless rate stayed unchanged at 5.3 percent.
Department officials had taken last month's numbers as positive proof of a continuing economic recovery in Minnesota. In the 12 months leading up to May, every major industrial sector in the state added jobs. Minnesota's unemployment rate was at a five-year low, and the state regained 93 percent of the jobs lost during the recession.
Minnesota has consistently outperformed the national unemployment rate, which in May was 7.6 percent.
