Mini-Donut Beer Arrives In Time For State Fair
STILLWATER, Minn. (WCCO) - The Lift Bridge Brewing Company in Stillwater has unleashed a new way to enjoy mini donuts.
And no, it's not on a stick.
This summer, Minnesota State Fair attendees will be able to enjoy their day with a glass of mini-donut beer, courtesy of the Ball Park Cafe and Lift Bridge.
Lift Bridge Co-Owner Dan Schwarz says the idea came up during a conversation with a customer who suggested creating a special beer that captured the essence of the fair. After some research and development with the brewmaster, Lift Bridge got the recipe right.
Mini-Donut Beer
"We rim the glass with some cinnamon and sugar," Schwarz said. "You taste a little bit of toastiness, breadiness, a little bit of sweetness. And of course the cinnamon sugar. It really is crazy."
Mini-donut flavoring was one of several ideas, which included a corndog-flavored beer.
Thankfully, Lift Bridge went with the former.
"You have to see some bad ideas come in before you see the good ones," Schwarz said.
While Lift Bridge's concept is unique, Summit Brewing is also selling a State Fair-themed IPA, complete with Minnesota ingredients.
