Metro Transit Votes Monday On New Deal
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Employees with Metro Transit will vote on a new deal on Monday in an effort to avoid a work stoppage.
About 2,200 bus drivers, train operators and mechanics are considering a new three-year offer from the state agency. The voting on the deal started Sunday and will wrap up Monday afternoon. The contract that the current drivers were on expired last July.
If they vote against the new contract, it would likely lead to a work stoppage. The last time Metro Transit drivers went on strike was in the spring of 2004. That walkout lasted six weeks.
