Metro Transit Offering Free Rides On New Year's Eve
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- In an effort to stop drunk driving, Metro Transit and Miller Lite are teaming up to offer free bus and light rail rides on New Year's Eve in the Twin Cities.
People can ride free from 6 p.m. through the last scheduled trip on the bus and rail routes.
That includes routes operated by Metro Transit, Metropolitan Council and Minnesota Valley Transit Authority.
It is the first time the program has been offered in the Twin Cities on New Year's Eve. However, the free rides have been a popular way to get around on St. Patrick's Day for the past 15 years.
"We're thrilled to team up again with Miller Lite to offer this popular and safe travel choice – this time on New Year's Eve," said Metro Transit General Manager Brian Lamb. "This is an enduring public-private partnership that has won the support of celebrators and law enforcement agencies alike."
