Metro Transit Installs Solar Panels On Bus Garages
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A lot of people try to be more energy efficient by using mass transit. Now, mass transit is turning to solar power to match that commitment.
Next year, Metro Transit will install solar panels on bus garages in Minneapolis, Bloomington and St. Paul. The rooftop arrays are expected to produce half of all the energy used at those sites.
The Metropolitan Council approved the plan this week. It's expected to save about $4 million dollars in energy costs over the next 25 years.
