Metro Transit Blames Vandals For Widespread Heater Outages
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It was a cold ride home Friday for many people using public transportation -- and not just because of the weather.
Metro Transit officials say several hundred heaters were not working Friday because of vandalism.
The heaters are attached to the roofs of light rail stations and bus shelters, keeping passengers warm as they wait for their rides.
Officials have not given a timeframe for repairing the damaged heaters.
