Metro Transit: 2 Northstar Trains Collide With Car In North Metro
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two Northstar Commuter Rail line trains collided Tuesday evening with a car that was carrying three people in the north metro.
No one was injured in the crash, which involved a northbound and a southbound train hitting a car just north of Elk River, Metro Transit said.
Elk River police said the car was traveling south on Jackson Street and went around the railroad crossing arms to do a U-turn. The car did not see the first train coming and was clipped by it, causing minor damage.
The three people who were inside the car got out before it was hit by the second train, which did most of the damage to the car.
The car's driver could be ticketed.
This incident comes just one day after a car carrying an infant also collided with a Northstar train in Elk River. No one was injured in that crash.
Those involved in Tuesday's collision were taken to their destinations by bus.
