ME: Scott Weiland Died From Mix Of Cocaine, Alcohol & MDA
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The former singer for the Stone Temple Pilots died accidentally from a mix of cocaine, alcohol and MDA, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
Other contributing factors in the death of Scott Weiland, the medical examiner said, were cardiovascular disease, a history of asthma, and chemical dependence.
The singer was found dead outside a hotel near the Mall of America late the night of Dec. 3, and one of his bandmates was later arrested. Cocaine was found in his Weiland's tour bus.
Weiland was best known as the lead singer and a founding member of the popular grunge rock band Stone Temple Pilots, but also toured with the Wildabouts and performed in the hard rock supergroup Velvet Revolver.
The band had a show scheduled in Rochester the day after Weiland's death.
