Mauer Voted Twins MVP By Local Baseball Writers
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Joe Mauer has been voted the Most Valuable Player of the Minnesota Twins by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
The 2010 Twins awards were announced Wednesday by the team. The catcher from St. Paul was also the winner of the Upper Midwest Player of the Year honor.
Right-hander Carl Pavano was named Pitcher of the Year, left fielder Delmon Young was voted Most Improved Twin, and third baseman Danny Valencia won the team's Most Outstanding Rookie award.
Right fielder and first baseman Michael Cuddyer was given the Bob Allison Award for determination, hustle, tenacity, competitive spirit and leadership. Cuddyer was also voted as the player most cooperative with the media.
