Maplewood Opens 'Green' Police And Fire Station
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A new fire and police station is the first of its kind in Minnesota.
It's a new "green" station for police and firefighters in Maplewood.
It's the first building in Minnesota built under the international "green construction" code.
That means it's connected to city trails and bike paths and it has rain gardens, a solar reflective roof to reduce summer heat, and many other environmentally friendly features.
