Maple Grove Pond Drowning Victim Identified
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Maryland man who drowned in a Maple Grove park pond on Saturday has been identified.
Vishwanathan Shankar, 38, of Rockville, began to struggle in the Swim Pond at the Elm Creek Park Reserve when a lifeguard pulled him out of the water and began CPR. Shankar was pronounced dead when police arrived on scene.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has ruled his death an accidental drowning.
Maple Grove Police, Hennepin County water patrol and Three Rivers Park District officers responded to the incident.
