Maple Grove Man Killed While Climbing Mt. Rainier
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Maple Grove family is mourning the loss of their son, who died while climbing Mount Rainier in Washington state.
On Saturday, searchers found a body matching the description of 25-year-old Kyle Bufis. He was reported missing on Thursday while climbing with two friends.
According to his work profile, Bufis grew up in Maple Grove, and studied earth science at Adams State University in Colorado. He was an experienced climber and a wilderness first responder.
CBS Seattle reports climbing accidents and deaths in Washington State are often the highest in the nation. They account for 20 percent of the sport's injuries and fatalities.
