Mankato, Vikings Work to Extend Camp Contract
MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO) -- As the Minnesota Vikings begin their annual training camp in Mankato, the city and the team are working to extend their agreement for future camps.
The Vikings and the city are in the final year of a four-year contract and both parties seem intent on continuing a relationship that began 47 years ago.
Vikings fans spend about $5 million during the annual three-week event and this summer's camp is not abbreviated like last year's.
"It'll be little interesting this year, with it extended out, to know whether there's an additional economic impact from that or not" said Mankato mayor Eric Anderson.

Mankato State University alone receives about $100,000 from the Vikings for hosting the camp.
