Mankato Assault Victim Still In Critical Condition
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A former Minnesota State University, Mankato, football player is still in critical condition at a hospital after being badly beaten last weekend shortly after bar close.
According to his CaringBridge page, Isaac Kolstad had another surgery Thursday afternoon. It went well, according to his family's post on the page. Kolstad is scheduled to have another planned operation Friday morning.
Kolstad suffered severe head trauma after allegedly being punched, hitting his head on the pavement and then being kicked in the head shortly after the bars closed in downtown Mankato last weekend. Two men, Trevor Stenner Shelley and former Gophers football player Philip Nelson, are each facing two felony charges in the incident. Nelson transferred from Minnesota to Rutgers shortly after the football season ended. Rutgers released Nelson from the football team there earlier this week.
