Man With 11 DWIs, Arrested For Another
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 53-year-old man was arrested this week for what could be his 12th DWI in eight years.
Bloomington Police arrested Gilbert Ricardo Garcia, of Richfield, on Sunday for driving while intoxicated, after he pulled out in front of a police officer, forcing her to brake quickly to avoid a collision.
The officer said she saw Garcia look at her, but did not stop or slow down. She ran the vehicle's plates and found the vehicle belonged to a David Miner, whose driver's license was expired.
The officer pulled Garcia over and immediately noticed his speech was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot. Garcia told police he was driving his boss' truck.
He was asked to exit the vehicle and perform a field sobriety test, which according to the officer, he "miserably failed." The officer states he refused to take the one-legged stand test and failed to recite the alphabet.
He then blew a .217 on a preliminary breath test and was arrested for DWI.
Police learned Garcia had 11 prior DWI convictions, including a prior felony conviction from July 17, 2003.
