Man Sentenced To Prison In Crash That Killed 2 Cousins
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 21-year-old St. Paul man has been sentenced to prison in the February deaths of two of his cousins.
On Monday, Teng Vang was specifically sentenced to 5 years in prison. In June, Vang pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular.
The charges stem from a Feb. 15 crash that killed 29-year-old Tue Vu and 28-year-old Chue Vu. It happened in the early morning hours, after Vang told police he had five beers at Moonshine Saloon.
Tue Vu, a father-to-be, and Chue Vu, a father of four, both suffered severe head trauma and were unrecognizable to authorities. Another person in the car, a friend, was injured and was treated at a local hospital.
In addition to prison time, Vang will face nearly another 5 years of probation.
The terms of his probation include: Chemical dependency evaluation, follow recommendations of evaluation, abstain from alcohol/chemical substance use, random testing and remain law-abiding.
