Man Sentenced To 30 Years In North Minneapolis Homicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 33-year-old Minneapolis man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Wednesday in connection to a North Minneapolis homicide, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

Javaris Milton, who was found guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder, will have the chance of parole after 30 years. He'll also server a concurrent 220 months for his second charge.

Dontae Johnson, a 31-year-old father of three from Champlin, was shot and killed in front of a home on North Sixth Street just before 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2010. It was the first homicide of the year for Minneapolis.

He was dropping off his son at a sleepover in the 3800 block of North Sixth Street. Johnson was shot several times and found outside of a car in a pool of blood.
