Man Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison For Home Invasion, Rape
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 25-year-old man was sentenced Friday in Ramsey County Court to 20 years in prison for robbing a St. Paul couple in their home, and then sexually assaulting the wife.
Kimanie Markeys Carter pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary and to two counts of kidnapping on April 9.
According to the criminal complaint, the St. Paul couple was returning to their apartment on the 1700 block of Norfolk Avenue at 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 26, 2011, when they were approached at an entry door by three males. One of the men pointed a gun at them and said, "Give us everything you have."
The men forced the couple into their apartment. Two of them then forced the 54-year-old husband to drive to an ATM machine and withdraw $500 to give to them, the complaint states.
Carter stayed in the apartment with the 53-year-old wife, and raped her at gunpoint, according to the complaint.
Carter and several other men were arrested later the same morning in Minneapolis by police.
