Man Sentenced In Marijuana Growing Operation
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A 40-year-old Farmington man was sentenced in St. Paul Federal Court on Friday for operating a marijuana growing operation and harvesting more than 400 plants in Elk River Township.
David Minh Phan was sentenced to one year and one day in prison on conspiracy to manufacture marijuana. He was indicted, along with 34-year-old Quy Trong Nguyen of St. Louis Park, on Oct. 18, 2010.
Both men pleaded guilty on Jan. 4. Nguyen was sentenced to one year and one day in prison on May 3.
In their plea agreements, both men admitted that from the spring of 2010 through Oct. 6, 2010, the conspired to plant, cultivate and harvest hundreds of marijuana plants on a plot of land in Todd County.
They were both arrested on Oct. 6, 2010. At that time, authorities found 443 marijuana plants on the property.
