Man Punched In Bar Fight Dies 7 Months Later
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The man who fell into a coma after being punched in a bar fight in St. Michael last spring has died, according to his CaringBridge Page.
Adam Baker was out with friends last May when he and another man got into an argument outside the Corner Bar.
Baker, a former UND Student Body President and employee at Delta Airlines, was hit just once and ended up on the ground. His head struck the concrete.
He spent the next seven months in a coma while his family shared his condition to tens of thousands of followers on CaringBridge.
In November, his condition took a turn for the worse and he was transferred from the coma stimulation and recovery program he was undergoing to hospice care at North Memorial Medical Center.
Early Friday morning, a message was posted on the site which read: "At approximately 2 a.m. this morning our world grew a good deal dimmer as the bright light that was Adam John Baker passed from this world to the next."
The CaringBridge site says funeral plans are still forthcoming.
Alexander Tuomisto, 23, of St. Michael was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree assault. He had turned himself into authorities the day after the incident.
When Tuomisto, a Mankato grad and construction project manager, turned himself in, he told a Wright County Deputy, "F---ing one punch, I don't know how this happened."
Authorities have not commented yet on whether Tuomisto's criminal charges will be upgraded.
