Man Pleads Guilty To Robbing Fridley Tobacco Store
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 45-year-old man pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to robbing a Fridley Discount Tobacco and Groceries store in June with the help of an armed man, the Department of Justice said.
Steven Eugene Daniels, of Fridley, pleaded guilty to one count of interference with commerce by robbery before district court Judge Joan N. Ericksen. In his plea agreement, Daniels said that on June 14, 2012, he and the other man entered the tobacco store, located on 315 Osborne Road, and forced the clerk to open the cash register. Daniels then took the money, and the two ran out of the store.
Daniels faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, the department said. Ericksen will give Daniels' sentence at a future hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.
