Man Pleads Guilty To Fatal Burnsville Shooting
HASTINGS, Minn. (WCCO) -- A Burnsville, Minn. man has pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the January shooting death of another Burnsville man.
According to the Dakota County Attorney's Office, Robert Michael Thomas, 47, pleaded guilty to shooting 38-year-old James Edward Koenig.
The shooting happened Jan. 23 in Thomas' Burnsville home. Police said they believed the two had an argument that led to the shooting.
"This was a senseless shooting death which should never have occurred," said county attorney James Backstrom.
Thomas had been indicted on one count each of murder while committing second-degree assault, manslaughter, intentional discharge of a firearm, endangering another and reckless discharge of a firearm in a municipality -- all, which are felonies.
Thomas will be sentenced on Oct. 27.
