Man Pleads Guilty In April Double Murder
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Chicago man has pleaded guilty in a double shooting that left two men dead in North Minneapolis in April.
Brian Deshawn Morse was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the incident. Police arrested Morse, 21, shortly after the shooting on the 4500 block of Penn Avenue.
The two victims were 47-year-old Odell Frazier and 56-year-old Eddie Pelmore, both of Minneapolis. Investigators said Pelmore was selling marijuana to Morse.
"This was swift justice for a vicious crime," Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said. "For no obvious reason, Mr. Morse decided to shoot two men who were old enough to be his father and who posed no threat to him. Accordingly, it is appropriate that he, too, will be an old man before he is eligible to be released."
Morse's guilty plea on the second-degree murder counts comes less than a week after a Hennepin County grand jury indicted him on first-degree murder charges.
He offered no reason for shooting the two victims, Freeman said.
Morse will be sentenced July 13. Freeman said that he's expected to get 55 years in prison.
