Man In Lake Superior Dog Photo Gets New Pet
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Remember the photo of a Wisconsin man who took his aging dog into Lake Superior to relieve his chronic arthritis?
People all over the world were moved by that picture of John Unger holding his dog, Schoep, in the lake. The two often did that together.
Schoep lived to be 20 years old. He died a year and a half ago.
On Monday, on Unger's Facebook page, he posted a picture of his new dog.
"I am whole again," he wrote. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is Bear!"
He is a 1-year-old Akita/Shep/Lab mix. He came from the Northwood's Humane Society in Hayward, Wis.
