Man Arrested In Brooklyn Park Fatal Shooting ID'd
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- One man is in custody after an overnight homicide in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
The man arrested in the killing is Dymond Rene Hayden, 19, of Brooklyn Center. He's been booked into the Hennepin County jail.
Around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to a stabbing on the 8100 block of Hampshire Court North.
When they got there they found an adult female dead in the home. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's report stated the woman died of a single gunshot wound.
Friends say the victim is 32-year-old Ashantai Finch, who was living with her sister after moving here from Michigan. Her close friends say Finch was trying to get out of a relationship and they believe it was her boyfriend who killed her.
Her friend, Wanda Curry, said she talked to Finch just last night and she told her she had an argument with her boyfriend.
"She didn't want to be there last night, but she was too tired to leave," she said. "I told her just drop the phone and leave. Tomorrow could be too late. She wanted to, but she was just too tired. This was senseless, another senseless act of violence. It's going to take a long time to recover after this one."

Curry said Finch was working at Park Nicollet Health Services.
Police say it appears to be a domestic situation.
Brooklyn Park Police and Hennepin County deputies searched a nearby park with a dog for evidence. They spent nearly an hour photographing and documenting an item they discovered. Inspector Todd Milburn would not comment on what they found.
This is the fourth homicide in two days for the city. However, police don't think this latest crime is connected to Monday's triple homicide in Brooklyn Park.
