Man Hospitalized After Monday Night Standoff In White Bear Lake
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a police standoff with a potentially suicidal man in White Bear Lake Monday night ended with the man suffering a non-life threatening self-inflicted gunshot wound.
White Bear Lake Police responded to a home on the 3500 block of Glen Oaks Avenue at about 7:02 p.m. Monday on a report of a despondent 40-year-old male family member who was inside the home and not welcome. When authorities arrived, the callers left the home out of concern from the man's safety.
Authorities immediately secured the area and tried to make contact with the man inside the home. Communication stopped at about 11:30 p.m. and 45 minutes later, officers entered the home to find the man unresponsive. Police said there was no forceful use of entry when they went inside the residence.
Authorities found the man and said he had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound that was self-inflicted. He was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment. The rest of the home's residents were allowed back into the home at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
There were no officers or first responders hurt in the incident.
