Man Gets More Than 7 Years For Shooting Homeless Man
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 23-year-old man was sentenced Monday to more than seven years in prison after pleading guilty to shooting a homeless man in Minneapolis' Franklin Avenue Library last year.
In court, Timothy Harper was sentenced to 86 months in prison after pleading guilty to first degree assault last month.
Harper admitted to shooting 42-year-old Macdad Abdullahi in the lower back on June 13, 2012.
Police said Abdullahi was brushing his teeth in the library bathroom when Harper came in and shot him "without provocation." Abdullahi is now paralyzed from the waist down.
Harper turned himself into police months after the shooting.
