Man Gets Life For Killing Sheriff's Deputy
CROOKSTON, M.N. (WCCO) -- A 34-year-old Mahnomen, Minn. man has been sentenced to life in prison without the opportunity of parole for the shooting death of a Mahnomen County Sheriff's Deputy.
In addition to life, Thomas Fairbanks was sentenced to another 20 years for the assaults on other Sheriff's Officers and White Earth Conservation Officers.
Last week, Fairbanks was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Dep. Chris Dewey.
Dewey was shot in the head and abdomen in February 2009 and died 18 months later as a result of his injuries.
