Man Gets 545 Days In Jail In Lakeville Fatal Crash
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 39-year-old Farmington man was sentenced to 545 days in jail, 13 years probation and 90 days of home monitoring over three years in connection with a Christmas Eve 2009 crash that killed one person.
Jeffrey Arthur Martin had been charged with criminal vehicular homicide, criminal vehicular injury, child endangerment and third-degree DWI. He was convicted by a Dakota County jury on Oct. 31, 2011. Martin was also fined $1,000 and ordered to pay restitution.
According to a criminal complaint, Martin was driving a car with his three kids, ages 10, 9 and 4 at the time, when he caused a crash in Lakeville that killed 88-year-old Everett Letterly and injured his wife. Martin had a blood alcohol level of .17 at the time of the crash, which is more than twice the legal limit for driving in Minnesota.
