Man Fined, Loses Boat After Reeling In 40 Fish
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An out-of-state angler lost his boat for reeling in too many fish, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Officials say they caught 54-year-old Charles Siegerdt fish fillets well over the limit -- 21 bass (42 fillets) and 19 northern pike (38 fillets) -- at an Itasca County resort.
The daily limit is six bass and three northerns.
The DNR confiscated his boat and fishing gear. Siegerdt now faces more than $2,000 in fines.
"After collecting his personal items from the boat he reached out and shook our hands, said he understood, and said it wouldn't happen again," Conservation Officer Jayson Hansen said.
