Elderly Man Dies In St. Paul Hit-And-Run

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- One man is dead after being killed by a hit-and-run driver in St. Paul, according to police.

The man in his 70s was crossing Earl Street when a car struck him and fled the scene. Police were called to the scene around 4:30 p.m., near Earl and Margaret streets.

Authorities have identified the man as Robert Tetu. Family of the victim said he and has wife had nine children and several grandchildren.

Police later found a vehicle nearby that might be the one involved. The suspected car is described as a late 1990s maroon Dodge Neon or car of similar body type. Police believe the car has damage on the driver's side and might have a loud exhaust.

A witness told police there might be also be damage to the windshield and the front end of the car.

Police have received some tips, but no arrests have been made at this time.
