Man Dies Clearing Snow Off Shed Roof
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man died after falling through the roof of his shed while trying to clear snow off it in rural Little Falls, Minn.
The Morrison County Sheriff's Office said 46-year-old Verd Anez was dead when they arrived.
They believe he died from injuries that happened in the fall, but the Ramsey County Medical Examiner has not yet issued an official cause of death.
The Sheriff's Office said that the heavy snowfall had caused at least one other barn roof collapse. The danger comes when people to climb onto roofs to remove snow.
According to Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel, barns and pole sheds often have one or more fiberglass roof panels, instead of solid steal panels, to let light shine through. When the roof is covered with snow, a person can step onto one of the weaker panels without knowing it.
