Man Dies After Falling Through Ice On ATV
(WCCO) -- A 59-year-old man is dead after falling through the ice on his four wheeler in Morrison County.
The Morrison County Sheriff's Office said they received a call that an ATV went through the ice on Lake Alexander around 6:10 p.m. Saturday.
When officials arrived on scene, they found a man, identified as Gary Donald Deppa, of Cushing, Minn., face down in the water at the edge of a 20-foot hole broken in the ice.
Deppa was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel said thin ice, darkness and the distance from the shore obstructed recovery efforts.
