Man Charged With Brooklyn Park Gas Station Robbery
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man has been charged with a Brooklyn Park gas station robbery that happened Wednesday.
Philip Alvin Myers, 22, was charged with aggravated robbery and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, both felonies.
Police said that Myers robbed a clerk at the Mobil gas station at 9500 Noble Ave. N. as the clerk was opening for business about 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 5.
The store is equipped with sixteen surveillance cameras, which captured him on tape while he was in the store for about four minutes.
The store also has live monitoring of its cameras when it open and closes for business, so police were quickly alerted to the crime.
Officers pulled up to the store when Myers was leaving the scene. He was caught and arrested a short time later after a police pursuit.
After looking through surveillance video, police say the clothing seen on the tape match the clothing that Myers was wearing when he was arrested. Officers said they also found a duffel bag with money in it in the vehicle and a handgun that was reported stolen from another property.
Myers was prohibited from having a firearm, because he was convicted of 2 burglaries in 2009 and he had also been convicted of stealing a vehicle in the past.
