Man Charged In Roseville Standoff With Police
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) – A 23-year-old man from Roseville was charged Friday in connection with a seven hour standoff he had with police earlier this week.
Alan Didi Wiedrick was charged with misdemeanor counts of obstruction of the legal process and disobeying order of a police officer.
According to a complaint, Roseville Police were called to Wiedrick's home on Monday after reports that he had posted Facebook messages indicating that he had tried to kill himself earlier in the day. The messages included that he was contemplating suicide and that he had hostility toward police.
When officers arrived, he was hostile toward them and appeared to be in possession of a pistol, according to a complaint. Officers then backed out of the home and got assistance from negotiators and a local SWAT team.
After about six hours of trying to communicate with Wiedrick, the SWAT team deployed tear gas into his home. About an hour later, Wiedrick was arrested when he tried to flee from the home's lower level.
Officers at the scene also recovered a firearm that he had when police initially confronted him. If convicted, Wiedrick faces up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
