Man Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Teen Girl
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- An 18-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder and aggravated robbery in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old girl.
Kivian Heard, and a juvenile suspect, turned themselves into police on July 9 and were taken into custody. According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a call of shots fired on July 7 near the Huntington Apartment complex in Brooklyn Park.
Upon arrival, they found 17-year-old Jennifer Scott, of Champlin, shot to death. Authorities said Scott died of a gunshot wound to the head. An autopsy also revealed blunt force trauma to the back of her head and over her right temple.
The medical examiner said she was shot at close range, between half an inch to 2 feet away.
Last Friday, a petition was submitted to certify the juvenile suspect as an adult for aiding and abetting Heard.
