Man Charged In Alleged Videotaped Rape

GOODVIEW, Minn. (WCCO) -- Three men are accused of knocking a 22-year-old woman unconscious, holding her down and raping her while they videotaped the assault, according to criminal charges.

The alleged incident occurred Friday in Goodview. According to the complaint, the woman woke up and remembers being thrown onto a bed. She told police she pleaded for the rape to stop and tried to free herself by scratching at the man who was holding her down.

Jerard Braboy, 39, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was charged Monday with first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Police are still searching for his accomplices.

In a court hearing on Monday, Braboy pleaded innocent to the charges. His bail was set at $200,000.

According to the complaint, the woman was at a party Thursday night and said she wanted a ride home. Braboy, another man and a woman the victim knew offered to give her a ride home around 4:30 a.m., though she said she didn't know Braboy or the other man.

The four arrived at a home in the 5100 block of Ninth Street, where a third man was at the apartment. The other woman whom the victim knew passed out when they arrived.

The victim went into the kitchen and was allegedly tackled by one of the men, according to the complaint. The victim hit her head on the floor and was knocked unconscious.

When she woke up, she said she was being thrown onto a bed. She said Braboy was sexually assaulting her while another man held her down and a third videotaped the incident, according to charges.

The men gave the woman a ride home after the assault and told her not to tell anyone. The victim texted a friend and told her she needed help.

Police were able to track Braboy down based on the license plates of the vehicle the victim was given a ride home in. Investigators say it appears one of the other men is Braboy's cousin, who is described as a black man, in his mid-30s, roughly 5-foot-5 with a dark complexion, slight facial hair who was wearing a gray stocking hat with a small bill and a gray, zip-up hooded sweatshirt.

Braboy has a long criminal record including numerous charges and arrests, including aggravated battery, aggravated assault, drug offenses and attempted murder.
