Man Charged For Driving Drunk, 5 Times Over Legal Limit
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 48-year-old man has been charged, after police say he caused an accident while driving with a BAC of .391, nearly five times over the legal limit.
Police arrested John Thomas Peters, of Minnetonka, around 1:36 p.m Sunday, after being called to the scene of an accident at 12th Street South and Harmon Place in Minneapolis.
Witnesses told police the driver of a Jaguar XJ8 was headed south on Harmon Place at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light and crashed into another car.
Police say the driver, later identified as Peters, had bloodshot, glassy eyes and spoke with a slur. He was given a preliminary breathalyzer test, which initially showed a result of more than .40. Peters was asked to take the test again, which registered a .391.
He was charged with refusing to submit a chemical test, driving while under the influence, violating a restricted driver's license and careless driving.
