Man Arrested For Assault With Beer Bottle At St. Cloud Bar
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) – A 30-year-old St. Cloud man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly assaulted a man with a beer bottle and threatened him with a knife at a St. Cloud bar, authorities said.
St. Cloud Police responded to a report of an assault at 1:27 a.m. Friday at McRudy's Bar on the 700 block of Germaine Street West. While on the way, police received a call from a male victim saying he had been assaulted by a man who had a beer bottle and a knife.
The victim, a 24-year-old Clear Lake man, was standing inside the bar when he observed a group of about six men arguing and said it looked like they were going to start fighting. As the argument was unfolding, one of the men approached the victim with a beer bottle in one hand and knife in the other.
The man, later identified as Edward Valentine Forsythe, told the victim he was going to stab him and cut him up, according to a police report. Forsythe also allegedly struck the man in the head with a beer bottle, causing minor injuries to the victim, who was able to leave the bar before being stabbed.
Authorities located Forsythe inside the bar and arrested him. He is now in the Stearns County Jail on charges of second-degree assault and fifth-degree assault.
