Man Arrested, Charged In 2001 Sexual Assault
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual assault that happened nearly a decade ago in Minneapolis.
In July 2001, a woman who said she had been drinking heavily at the First Avenue Bar in downtown Minneapolis the night before contacted police.
She claimed she had been choked and sexually assaulted by a man who took her home to his apartment.
Investigators noted a number of bruises on her neck and face. They were able to obtain a DNA sample from the assault and matched it to 38-year-old Kofi Yeboah from their database of convicted sex offenders. He had previously been convicted twice on sex offences.
Police arrested Yeboah on June 6. He is currently charged with first-degree sexual assault.
