Man Arrested After Leading Police On Chase In Twin Cities
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It took officers from two police departments to end a dangerous high speed chase Thursday night.
Authorities were following a driver throughout the Twin Cities metro who was traveling at more than 100 miles per hour.
Minneapolis Police first tried to pull over 48 year old Steve Jones in the south metro, but instead he hit the gas. Traffic cameras caught Jones speeding down 35W to Interstate 494. Squad cars tried to safely keep up, but when Jones went the wrong way on Highway 100, officers decided it was too dangerous to follow.
The chase picked up again in Eagan. They used all their training moves: Stop sticks, a pit manuever and finally stopped Jones. He was arrested and booked him into the Dakota County jail.
Eagan Police also charged Jones with reckless driving and possession of narcotics. They say they found a crack pipe in the front seat.
