Man Arrested After Fatal Duluth Crash
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- A 19-year-old man is under arrest after a fatal crash in Duluth.
Police say the man was driving a pickup that crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
The 65-year-old woman who was driving the car was taken to a hospital, where she died. She is identified as Paula Bergren of Duluth. A 13-year-old boy who was her passenger was admitted to a hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
The pickup driver was not hurt. Police say excessive speed by the pickup contributed to the crash, and its driver was under the influence of alcohol. Weather and road conditions did not contribute to the crash.
The man is in the St. Louis County Jail, pending charges.
