Man Accused Of Stealing Handguns Arrested At DWI Stop
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 31-year-old man accused of breaking into a house and stealing handguns in St. Cloud was arrested in Minneapolis, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office.
On Friday morning, Tyler Alm of St. Cloud was pulled over by a Minnesota State Trooper for a DWI and two outstanding arrest warrants. During a search of Alm's vehicle, the Trooper located two loaded handguns, 42 grams of marijuana and a laptop computer, authorities said.
When the Trooper ran the serial numbers on the handguns, it was determined that they were stolen during a robbery at a residence in St. Cloud. The robbery was reported on March 22, 2011.
Later, at the Hennepin County Jail, Alm admitted to the Sheriff's Office investigators that he entered the residence while the occupants were sleeping and removed the handguns and the laptop computer.
A hold has been placed on Alm while the Sheriff's Office seeks first-degree burglary charges against him.
