'Come Tell Us What Happened': 2 Deadly St. Paul Shootings Occur Within 14 Hours
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two men are dead in the city of St. Paul from two different shootings within 14 hours -- the eighth and ninth homicides of the year in the Capitol city.
Someone shot and killed a man outside of Johnny Baby's bar in St. Paul Saturday at about 2 a.m.
"In this situation, we only found one witness that was willing to talk to officers," said St. Paul Police Public Information Officer Mike Ernster.
Another man was fatally shot Friday afternoon on the 400 block of Maryland Avenue West. Police have already arrested a suspect in this shooting.
"The reason why that arrest was made possible is because of …. good police work on behalf of the investigators getting out there and doing their job, and also working with community members who came forward with information," Ernster said.
Police are desperate for people to come forward in the Saturday shooting.
"We need this kind of help right now in this case. There was more people out there that just that one person who was willing to talk to us," Ernster said.
Police are being tight-lipped about what happened in this case.
"We want these witnesses to come forward. We don't want to taint anybody's statement by releasing any information, we want them to come tell us what happened out there," he said.
Two murders in a matter of hours is not normal in St. Paul, and police don't think the two are connected.
"Everybody wants a safe city, and we are going to work as hard as we can to make sure it's safe," Ernster said. "But we need the community to work with us. And we need people to come forward and talk to us."
