Man, 23, Arrested In Connection With St. Cloud Weekend Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 23-year-old man is in jail in connection with shooting reports in St. Cloud over the weekend, authorities say.
The St. Cloud Police Department said Jamar Hawk Overton is currently in the Stearns County Jail and being held for second-degree assault and being a felon in possession of a gun.
On Monday, St. Cloud police and the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force executed a search warrant in Overton's apartment, which is located on the 500 block of 54th Avenue North. In the apartment, authorities found a gun.
Police said they received information on Overton after several gunshots were fired early Saturday morning. Officers learned that there had been an argument between two groups of people that led to two shots being fired near the 100 block of 6th Avenue South at around 2:30 a.m.
Not long after those first two shots were fired, six to eight more shots rang out on the 200 block of 6th Avenue South.
No one was hurt in the shooting, police said.
Authorities are still investigating.
