Major Flood Risk Edges Up For Minnesota, Mississippi Rivers
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The chance of major flooding in most of Minnesota has risen as much as 20 percent since last month due to heavy snow over the Presidents Day weekend.
National Weather Service meteorologist Dan Luna said the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers from St. Paul southward were most affected by the snow.
A flood update Thursday was largely unchanged for rivers north of the Minnesota River.
The risk of flooding in the Red River Valley of North Dakota and Minnesota increased only slightly since mid-February.
Another big snow is forecast for the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota by early next week.
